Twenty-three years ago I took my first basset hound, Dexter, to board at my vet’s office kennel for a long weekend. When I picked Dexter up the kennel assistants said he bayed and barked the entire weekend. When I took him home his barking voice sounded gruff and hoarse. It was then that I decided no more boarding facilities for my baby. I then started to hire in-home pet sitters and Dexter was a very happy unstressed dog as were all of our other basset hounds and beagles who have lived with us over the years.
The concept for Seaside Pet Resort is unique. It is what you and I, pet owners, want. When the resort was designed we thought of the kind of facility we would want for our own family dogs and others who view their dogs as family members.
Seaside Pet Resort is a cage-free, dog friendly, people pleasing boarding kennel facility located on Seaside Road in Melfa, Virginia on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We are 45 minutes north of Cape Charles and 45 minutes south of Chincoteague Island in a rural area 2 miles off Route 13. This idyllic location is perfect for a dog’s quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. So, while you are on vacation enjoying a change in routine, you will be comforted in knowing your best friend will be enjoying a change in scenery with 24-hour personal care!
